The Amazing Wacky Wednesday!

Kia ora, at Paihia School we are always doing amazing things and today most of the school dressed up for Wacky Wednesday. For Wacky Wednesday my friends Angela, Jaelyn and I all dressed up as fairies. When we found out it was going to be Wacky Wednesday my friend Angela came to my house so that we would be able to get ready together. We wore purple wigs, I have purple wings and Angela has pink wings, we did our makeup to try make us look like we are blushing and we also added jewels on our eyes to make our eyes stand out more. Another thing that I like about Wacky Wednesday is that all of the teachers have dressed up, and they look amazing. I am really enjoying Wacky Wednesday so far because all we have done so far has but a smile on peoples faces and made people happy. Next time if we do this again I will definitely want to make my outfit more Wacky and try make it stand out more. Did you dress up for Wacky Wednesday? Bye! Please check out my slideshow full of photos.

Attributing Images

Kia ora. The past few weeks we have been learning how to attribute images. The reason we have been learning this was so that we don’t steal people’s images and that they get credit for their images. Something that I have learnt was how to make sure the that I can use the images that I need. To do this you need to go to google and type what image you want, then go to tools and click Usage Rights. Once you’ve done that then click creative commons licenses and then you can go look for an image and know that your allowed to use it. I will definitely use this in the future because if I ever need to use an image, I know how to find one that I am allowed to use, without stealing someone’s work. Before you read this blog post did you know how to attribute images? Please see my DLO

Phishing or Scams

Kia ora, this week in Te Ngahere we have been learning about phishing & scams. When someone is phishing you they could want to press a link that could say something like there is a virus and they want you to download a software. As soon as you go into the website you could lose your personal things like all your photos and videos. Sometimes they ask you if you want your photos back you have to pay thousands of dollars but you shouldn’t really do that because they could be phishing you again. When someone is scamming you they could add something on facebook for example: your first car when you were born your neighborhood and act like its a cool game to fill out but really they are just scamming your personal information. They can also do this in many other ways by saying to win a PS5 fill out this form with your personal information and you could win one. Also another example: if you go on a site there is always a lock in the top left corner where the url goes, sometimes there is a red line crossing over it. If you ever go on a website and you see that then the owner of the website can steal your personal information because it means that the website is not secure. Something that I have learnt from this activity is that whenever I go onto a website to always look at the top left corner to see if there is a lock with a red line across it and if there is then its trying to steal personal information. If you would like to learn more then you can check out my DLO down below. I hope my DLO helps, bye bye!

Lockdown

Kia ora, on Sunday the 5th of September it was fathers day. For fathers day I woke up and started making my dad a special breakfast for his special day. I made him a plate of bacon and eggs with french toast and a hashbrown. I also made him a coffee for his drink. Once my dad finished his breakfast we started watching movies and relaxing for the day. At the end of the day my dad thanked me for the great day that he had. I hope that everyone's dad had a great fathers day. What did you do for your dad on fathers day? Bye!

Nanogirl Reflection:

Kia ora, at Paihia School we had a very important guess come down to show us some amazing stuff about science. This important guests name was Nanogirl. She came down to talk to us about what she does and what she would like to show us. She was teaching us about gravity, fire and air flow. My favourite part about Nano Girls show was when she lit her hand on fire. I learnt that you can light yourself on fire and not burn yourself I also learnt that u can stick a stick right throw a billow without popping it. I really enjoyed this because it was really inspiring to see Nanogirl because she is such an amazing person and I love everything she does. If I got to see her again I would love to talk to her more about what she does and what inspires her to be a scientists. Have you ever meant Nanogirl before?

Science Fair

Kia ora, In Te Ngahere these past few weeks we have been doing science experiments for the science fair coming up. First we all came up with something we wanted to do our experiment about, then we started writing our method, aim, variables and hypothesis off the research that we did. After that we then started out experiment and took a lot of photos for evidence, when we had finished our experiment we finished writing out conclusion, results and evaluation. After we wrote the scientific method out we then put them on slides and printed them so that we could glue them on a board to present it. From doing this I learnt what a controlled variable is, what a independent variable is and a dependent variable. The thing that I found hard was that I was sick most of the time so my friend Angela had to do most of it but she hadn’t been there so she had no idea what to do and I had to try tell her over the chromebook. ( she was very hard to teach over the chromebook ). If we got to do this again one thing that I would do differently would be talking to Angela so that she had more of an understanding of what to do, also when we glued our slides down we weren’t looking at all of the space we could of used but we didn’t so there was a big spot on our board full of space that we didn’t use, so next time I will look and see how much space we have left. When doing this I had to use my hoe of Tu maia and Kaha because it was really hard teaching Angela over the chromebook but not just that also because when Angela wasn’t here I had to try think what she would do because Angela was doing it when I wasn’t here then I had to do it when she wasn’t here. I really enjoyed this and I would really like to do this again. Have you ever done a science fair before and if you have how did it go?

Dot Plot

Kia ora in Te Ngahere we have been doing maths. For maths we have been learning about dot plots. We got a sheet of data, the data was about how far room 1 can throw a tennis ball. This data was already in a dot plot but there was more data that wasn’t in a dot plot that was room 2s data. For room 1s data I found out that the lowest throw was 3 and the farthest throw was 19. For room 2’s data the lowest number was 6 and the highest number was 20. I really enjoyed this because I learnt what the word range means. When we first started this I thought range meant how far the ball went but it actually meant, how much is in between the lowest and highest number, for example the range of room 1s data was 16 because the longest throw for room 1 was 19 and the lowest throw was 3 so you just take away 3 from 19 and you get 16. The part that I think I could of done better was to look at the teachers DLO so that my DLO would be more understandable for the people who have no clue what a dot plot is and what I was talking about. When our teacher did it she made it so clear by showing step by step what to do and pointed to what she was talking about. Have you ever made a dot plot before?

Task Masters

In Te Ngahere to start off the term our teachers decided to do something fun, so we did a little bit of task master challenge . For taskmaster we played a game where everyone in the class has to try stay on the piece of news paper for 5 seconds, without touching the ground. Before we started we all had to come up with strategies so that all of us could stand on the news paper at the same time. Everytime we did it we would have to fold the news paper in half so it would get smaller and smaller. We only had one minute to find out the best strategy that we wanted to use. On the first round my group Angela, Ana, Marley and I, there was enough room for all of us to just stand on it so we did. Then on the second round I jumped on Angelas back and Marley jumped on Anas back. In the end my group won, but then the teachers wanted us to do it again but with 3 people. So my group was now Angela, Ana and I. We decided to try the same strategies that we used when we had 4 people but it didn’t work and sadly we were out and had to sit down. I really enjoyed this because it really had my groups brains working with trying to find out strategies that would work the best. Next time I think I would try put myself in a group with people that have small feet and are good at balancing. Have you ever played this game before & if you have how did it turn out?

New Maths

Kia ora, in Te Ngahere this week we have started a new type of maths. We have started making graphs, the reason why we are doing this is because it is going to help us with the science fair this year with presenting our data. First, we all jumped into the groups that the teachers put us in and all wrote down our age, eye color, how many siblings we have, how we got to school on a piece of paper. After that, we gathered all of the data and made a table. We then made a graph. The graphs that I made was a pie graph and bar graph because those are the two graphs that I understand most. I really enjoyed this because it was really interesting and I haven’t done anything to do with graphs in a long time. The thing that I think I could of done better was coming up with better graphs to present my data instead of just using the regular graphs like a bar graph or a pie graph, but then sometimes the regular graphs are better to use to present your data because they are easier to understand. What is your favorite graph?

Great Marble Challenge:

Kia ora, Last week in Te Ngahere we started doing a marble challenge. In this marble challenge we had to create a ramp that the marble would travel down and stop exactly on 1.1 meters. We created these ramps because we were going to have a competition to see who’s ramp worked the best and why. We were allowed to use whatever we wanted to make the ramps. Once we made our ramps we then created our instructions, the reason why we created instructions was because we were not constructing our ramps another group was. I really enjoyed doing this because when we did this two years ago I had no idea what to do and what would help the ramp work better and what wouldn’t, but this year I remembered from two years ago what worked well and what didn’t. I also really enjoyed this because it was a great experience for the year 6’s to have a go and celebrate with us. Something I think I would work on or do better next time is that I would work on making my instructions clearer. When we did this we also had to follow the scientific method, if you don’t know what the scientific method is it is 1 ask a questions, 2 gather information, 3 make an hypothesis, 4 test and experiment, 5 analyze your test results, 6 modify your hypothesis if needed, 7 then present your conclusion and the last step is to get someone else to test your hypothesis. I hope we get to do this again soon because it as a great experience to do with the year 6’s. Have you ever made a ramp before?

Bay Of Islands Science Roadshow

Kia ora yesterday in Te Ngahere we went to Bay Of Islands College to see the Science Roadshow. Once we got to Bay Of Islands College they first put on a quick show to explain a few things that we will see there. When we were there I learnt that gases can cover more area than liquids can. My favourite exhibit was the honey one because they give you different types of honey and they wanted you to guess what that honey is called. Something that I learnt from The Bay Of Island Roadshow that will help me with doing the science fair this year will be to only change one variable at a time, so I know what made my science experiment better or what made it worse. I really enjoyed this because I loved looking at all of the different exhibits and all the different ideas, they were all so unique and different. If I got another opportunity to go I would definitely take it because it was a great experience and I had a great time. Did you go to the Bay Of Island Roadshow?

Outstanding Art

Kia ora in Te Ngahere we have been doing art, but not the art with pens, paint and paper we are doing it digitally. We have been doing mosaic art, we had to get a google drawing and put any picture of an animal or person of our choice, then we used the polyline tool to make shapes with gaps between each other to try create that animal. We were learning this because we have made videos to put around our school explaining what animals and trees we have and why we need them. We made these for Q.R codes, so then we can just put the video on the picture. I really enjoyed doing this because we did this last year. The thing that I think I did well was that I used the right colors to really make the animal stand out. Last year I only did one animal which was a panda, but this year I tried doing all sorts of animals for example I did a Rabbit, Giraffe, Bird, Red Panda, a normal Panda and a Fox. The thing that I found hard about this activity was trying to make the really little shapes so that I could add more detail. I wouldn’t do anything differently because I am really happy with the way they turned out. This is one animal that I did, I hope you enjoy it. Have you ever done mosaic art before? Bye bye!

Technology Update

Last week in Te Ngahere the year 7 and 8’s went to technology, at technology we carried on with our waka that we have been making. Now that everyone in the class has cut there waka out there are just a few people glueing them, besides that everyone has been shaping them and sanding them down. I really enjoyed this part because I really enjoyed using the machine.. After I had sanded my waka I then got the teacher Mr. E to cut the waka ends in half so then there is room for the front of the waka and the end on the waka to go. I really enjoyed it because every day I get closer to finishing my waka and I can’t wait until it is done. The thing that I think I will try to work on is to make sure that I listen to the teacher so then I will be successful with making a perfect waka. Have you ever made a waka at technology before? Bye!

Smart Relationships DLO

These last two weeks we have been working on making a DLO for our Smart Relationships. We had to make a fun and interesting way to show our learning so my friend Angela and I come up with an idea of making a animation because we knew it would take long because there were too people and we were sharing the amount of slide so that one person is not doing all of the work. There were a lot of topics that we would of chosen to do our DLO about but we chose to do not text strangers and share you personal information online. I really enjoyed this activity because it was fun and is a fun way to show our learning. The thing that we did well was that we worked together and helped each other. I enjoyed everything about what we did but I think that next time we could work on adding more detail with what the characters are saying. I also think that if we got more time to do this we would of indeed way more detail with what the characters are saying. Have you ever done a Smart Relationship DLO before?

Smart Relationships

Kia ora everyone, in Te Ngahere this week we have been learning about Smart Relationships/being smart online. The reason we are doing this is to help us be smart on the internet and also be careful with what we write and what we post. From watching the video that the teacher gave us about being safe online I have learnt to never give out personal information like your email address, phone number etc because then random people can know where you live and how to contact you which isn’t safe. The video that we watched was 8 minutes long. I really enjoyed doing this activity because it was really fun and it I am going to be very careful online with what I post. The way that I am going to change my online behaviour is by only posting things that I wouldn’t mind if my mother or father saw. After we did this activity we started to make a DLO so that we could give people advice to be safe online, I really enjoyed making that as well. The thing that I would do differently would be trying to take my time with my work and get it to a higher staderstand. Do you always be safe when you are online?

Upgrade For The Wings Writing:

Kia ora in Te Ngahere these past two weeks we have started doing writing, the writing that we are doing is called creative writing. Our inspiration is by a film called “ Wings”. When we first started this activity we all sat down on the mat and watched a quick 4 to 5 minutes film that is called “ Wings”. The reason we watched this video is because we had to choose a scene to write about. The film had no words so we had to make the words up. I really enjoyed this activity because the year 8’s did the same writing about this film “Wings” two years ago. Our teacher Whaea Chrissy sent my friend and I our old writing doc’s that had our old writing from two years ago on it so we can see the improvements we have made from then and now. Next time if we do this again I would try add way more detail and try to use more words that I don’t use very often so I can make it more detailed. The thing that I think I could really improve on next time would have to be, trying to add way more detail in my writing because we were focusing on vocabulary this week and the feedback that I got from the teachers were to added more detail but I also need to work on my punctuation more. Have you ever done a piece of writing inspired by a film before? This is the film:

Maths DLO For Expanding Numbers

This week in Te Ngahere in maths we have been doing work around expanding numbers. We made a DLO to show our learning in a creative way. In our DLO we had to explain what we were learning about (expanding numbers), explain how to expand a number, what columns they are in and why. I really enjoyed doing this because now I know how to expand a number but also how to read numbers better and more confidently. The thing that would of made our DLO more earlier for my group would of been if we got to practice our scrip a bit more. Have you ever expanded a number before? This is my DLO:

Mothers Day

In the weekend it was mothers Day. In the morning my brother and I woke up and decided to make a banana cake for our mum. I made the cake and my brother decorated it. He wanted to do a lot of icing with only a few candles but we decided to do no icing and then we used the candles to spell mum. I loved making the cake with my brother because we go to spend time with each other and we haven’t spent time together like how we did on mothers day in years. When the cake was done and decorated we took it down stairs and surprised our mum with it. Seeing the look on our mums face just made me smile. While my mum was busy telling us how much she loved us and thanking my brother and I for making the cake, my dad was sitting on the couch saying “where is mine”? I loved the way that I made my mum feel because she had a big smile on her face and the whole family was there to see it. Next mothers day I want to try take her out for dinner or lunch just to give her a surprise. What did you do for your mums for mothers day?

Fishy

This week in Te Ngahere we have been doing new learning around Google drawing. Our teachers have realized that we don’t do much work around Google drawings. On our google drawings we had to make fish using shapes. My friend Angela and I thought that just having fish on our google drawing was boring so we decided to add different animals like kina, stingrays and jellyfish etc. I really enjoyed doing this activity because I learnt new things about google drawing and how to round the shapes more. There was nothing I didn’t enjoyed but next time if we do this again I want to challenge myself to make harder animals out of the shapes. Have you ever made animals out of shapes before?

The Hardest Work So Far Done At Technology

Yesterday the year 7’s and the year 8’s went to Technology. When we went to Technology we found out that the year 8’s are doing woodwork and the year 7’s are doing cooking. In woodwork the first thing we did was go over all of the rules that we needed to follow and learnt how to use all of the tools. The creation that we are making is a waka. I really enjoyed starting this and I can’t wait until it is finished so we all have a beautiful waka to take home. The thing that I found hard was cutting the drawing out of the waka that we did using the power tools. I wouldn’t change anything about what I did but I would try harder to get my work done faster. Do you go to Technology?

Best P.M.I DLO You Will Ever See:

In Te Ngahere this week we are working on finishing our Te Ngahere notes. Angela and I are in a group for this activity but we have already finished so our teacher Whaea Becks told us to say what we think we did well, what we could improve on and what was interesting. Angela and I didn’t know anything. Another way to express what we did well, what we could work and what was interesting other than a DLO. The DLO that we made is that we put our video of talking about silver ferns ( the work we did for the Te Ngahere notes) & we put a short clip of David Attenborough’s video. The reason we did this is to compare our video to David Attenborough's video to see what we liked about our video, what we could work and what was interesting about it. I really enjoyed this activity because there were a lot of things that Angela and I realized that we could work on and do next time to make our work much better. Next time if we do another Te Ngahere note or just any film the DLO that we made has helped us to see how we can make our films so much better and more interesting. The way that I would change it is instead of having so many pictures and people just see us standing there we could go outside and film to show where they like to grow and hold up a silver fern so people can get a better view of them. Would you ever do any work around silvers ferns like we have? this is our video: link

Are You Good At Following Directions?

In Te Ngahere, we did a reading test.  The reading test that we did was called “ Can you follow directions?” First, we got a piece of paper with a set of intrusions on it. This reading test is not like other reading tests. Other reading tests are usually for testing how good you are at reading, but this test was to see how good you are at following directions. The first step that we had to do was read everything carefully before we do anything, but there were 23 questions and honestly I didn’t want to read them all so I just did the questions as the steps went on. Everyone had 4 minutes to do this test. When the 4 minutes ended we all went down to the floor and the teachers were reading the first step and I personally realised that I did it all wrong because when the teacher read the last step it said “now that you have finished reading everything carefully, do only sentence one and two!” That was when I found out I did everything wrong because I did almost all of the steps. I really enjoyed this activity and I learnt that I am not very good at following directions. If I had to follow directions again I would definitely read the directions properly and pay more attention to my learning. Do you think that you are good at following directions?

Outstanding Te Reo DLO

These past few weeks in Te Ngahere we have been learning how to pronounce Te Reo Maori. We have been using an app called Education Perfect. We had to pronounce the alphabet, greetings & place names in Maori. After we learnt how to pronounce them, we would go back over them and screencastify ourselves saying it. Then we would embed our screencastify onto a Google slide. I really enjoyed this activity because I learnt how to say place names in Te Reo Moari. I didn’t find anything hard about this activity but I would 100 percent out of 100 recommend you to use this app if you wanted to learn Te Reo Maori. This is my DLO I hope you enjoy. Have you ever used Education Perfect before?

Interesting Tips For Smart Surfing

In Te Ngahere this week we have been learning about Smart Surfing. If you don’t know what I mean by Smart Surfing it’s where you get a question, for example where do silver ferns live? We take out the key words such as silver ferns and live then we changed the word from live to habitat. We are only using the key words out of the questions to get a more relatable answer. The reason why we use they key words is because then we would get a more relatable answer to our question. I really enjoyed this because when we first started looking up facts on the web and using the whole question we didn’t get the answer that we needed because we were using how and what, with the word how and what Google then goes and looks for every page that had what and how on it. But then when we started using the key words we were all getting the perfect answer that we wanted. There wasn’t anything hard about this activity, and I would 100 percent do this again because it helped me so much with finding the research that I wanted so that I would be successful. Have you ever done any work about Smart Surfing before like how I have?

The Biggest Discovery For The Coastal Seas

In Te Ngahere these past few days we have been learning about our planet and all the animals that live in the Coastal Seas. First of all we had to watch a video about our planet that was called ‘Our Planet; Coastal Seas’ on netflix. While we were watching the video we were writing down all of our notes thats we could; we had to a least get 10. I got 25 facts. After that we had to make a DLO about all the facts that we just learnt. I really enjoyed this because I have learnt a lot about whales, sharks, dolphins etc. I would 100 percent do this again because it wasn’t hard and I really enjoy it when we get to do work like this. Have do you ever done any work around Coastal Seas before?

The Most Delicious Butter Chicken Ever

In Te Ngahere yesterday we all went to greens. If you don’t know what it is it’s a restaurant. We went to greens because it was Shivams birthday.
The reason why we went to greens was because his mother and father owned it. At the restaurant we got to eat butter chicken. The food was really delicious, I really liked the garlic naan bread and the chicken and rice was really good two.
When we first got there I felt a bit weird because I didn’t know what to tell them if I wanted more or less, at the end I felt more comfortable to say if I wanted some or not. At the when we all finished our food Angela and I gotta get up to say thank you for everything, but then his parents walked out with a shopping cart of easter eggs for all of us.
After we got the eggs Angela and I got up and gave Shivam a birthday card that we made for him, we were singing him happy birthday then it was time to thank his parents for having us. We didn’t know a better way to say thank than a waiata so we all sang a song for them and then went back to school.
Have you ever been to greens before?

My New Understandings for Maths:

In Te Ngahere this week we have been learning maths, not every person in the class were doing the same activity. We were all in different groups, we are in groups with other people that are learning the same maths as us. I am in a group called star.. My group was learning how to put decimals numbers into place value. I think that is a good strategy fo me to learning because it’s helping me with my decimals and place value. I really enjoyed doing this, at the start when we first had a go at it I was really confused because I didn’t understand what I was getting teached but then the person that was teaching us started saying it step by step and slowing down to make sure we know what she is saying. Next time if we do this again I will tell the person teaching me to wait and ask if I can show them an example to see if I understand them. Have you ever done turning decimals into place value?

My New Understanding About Te Reo Maori

These past few weeks we have been learning Te Reo Maori. We have been using a site called EP. This is teaching us to pronounce our vowels properly and say it how we are meant to. I like this activity because it has helped me a lot lately. I would recommend this to anyone who needs to work on their Te Reo. When I do this again I would listen to what it was saying and try harder to get it done faster. Have you ever used EP before? This is what it looks like!

Team Work Makes The Dream Work:

In Te Ngahere on Monday we were doing something called taskmaster. We have been put in groups of three to help everyone with getting there work done faster. In our groups we did a subject called taskmaster, if you don’t know what taskmaster is it where the teachers draw a picture and take it away then 2 people out of your group of 3 are the runners that go see what the picture looks like and comes back to the drawer and has to describe what it looks like to the drawer. If you are the drawer then you have to try get the drawing as close as you can to the teachers one by what your group tells you. I really enjoyed doing this activity because it was fun and I got to learning about my group members a lot. The part that I found easy is that when we started working together and listening to teacher it got a lot easier. The thing that I found hard was when I was the drawer and my group was trying to tell me what to do I didn’t get what they were saying and they were just saying it louder and louder but I still didn’t get it. But when I was the runner is was very frustrating because I was telling my group what to write down but they didn’t get it and the thing that made it a lot harder is that we couldn’t touch the piece of paper to tell them were everything goes and how big and small it should be. If we did this again I would not wanna be they drawer because it was really hard to understand what they were saying. Have you ever done a taskmaster activity before in your class?

My Experience Of Russell Swimming Sports

Last week in Te Ngahere some of the children got to go to Russell Swimming Sports for the day to represent our school. I was lucky enough to be one of the many children that got to go. We started with the 11 year olds and older boys diving, Then it was the 11 year olds and older girls turn. I am 12 so that was the group I was in. With the first dive I did I didn’t do so well but the second one was a lot better. After that we did the relays and I didn’t do so well in them but I know what I need to work on next time to improve. I think that I could try keeping my ear by my arm to help me stay on the top of the water and so its easier to breathe when I am doing relays. I am probably not going to get another opportunity to try it again because next year I am going to college but if I did get to try again I would differently try a lot harder with my diving. Have you ever been to Russell Swimming Sports before?

Interesting Food Web DLO

We have been learning about food webs. We had 9 pictures and we had to add arrows to where the energy is going to. For example if there is a possum and a kereru the arrow will be coming from the kereru and pointing to the possum because the possum gets it’s energy from the kereru. The food web that I made is really different because my food web doesn't have as many arrows as the original one, My one also doesn’t have coloured arrows. The coloured arrows are there to show where all of the organisms get there energy from. My one does not have a lot of arrows pointing at one thing, for example I only put three or two things pouniting at the stoat but the stoat can eat everything on the food web that we made. Next time if I got to do this again I would add more arrows to add more detail in my DLO. Next time I would also make the arrows different colours so it is easier to see where the energy is coming from and where it is going. Have you ever done a food web before?

The Day I Will Never Forget

Last week there was a tsunami warning from the top of the north to all the way down to Whangarei. At School we only got to play for 10 minutes then we all had to run or walk as fast as we could to get to the top of the hill near our school. We were sitting up there as parents were coming and going to get their children. Nearly half of the kids got taken home but the other half stayed. We didn’t get to take our bags so I got really hungry but I managed. We couldn't drink all our water because then we would have needed to go toilet but there were no toilets up there. We were up there for at least four hours but once we got back to school and the tsunami evacuation was over we got to drink all of the water we had and eat all our food. This really scared me and I thought there was going to be a really big tsunami but lucky it was little. The thing that I enjoyed was that I got to be with my friends while the whole thing was happening. What is the scariest thing that has ever happened to you before?

The Most Delicious Pizza Rolls Ever

Last week In Te Ngahere the year 7 and 8’s went to tech. If you don’t know what it is it’s where we go and learn to do cooking. Now that we are year 8’s we get to do cooking and we made pizza rolls. I like cooking but I like woodwork better because last year when covid hit we didn’t get to finish what we started. Last week was the first week back at technology for us and it was great. I really enjoyed doing cooking because it was fun and my friends and I all got to sit with each other. I really enjoyed this because I got to learn something new and what we made were delicious. Next time I think that I will try putting more ingredients in mine because last time I didn’t add a lot of vegetables. Does your school do technology?

What I Learned From Mutualism

In Te Ngahere this week we have been learning a lot about mutualism. We were learning to make connections between trees and birds from the reading that we read to create new learning. If you don’t know what mutualism is it’s a name for a relationship where two things both benefit from each other. With the learning that we were doing we had to explain what we already knew, what we discovered and what our new understandings are, that is called synthesis. This wasn’t easy to do but it was interesting because we don’t do that much work around birds and trees. I really enjoyed doing this and I wouldn’t mind if we got to do it again. Have you ever done any work around mutualism before?

Incredible Ecosystem DLO

This week in Te Ngahere we have been learning about ecosystems and what they have in them. We were learning to make connections between different things we read or view to create new learning. We have a google doc that we have written what we already knew, new information that we discovered and what our new understandings are. That is called synthesis. It took me a moment to wrap my head round making the DLO but it wasn’t very hard at all once I got the hang of it. This was new learning to me but it was enjoyable to do because I got to learn something new, next time the thing that I would try harder with would be making my examples a little easier for the reader to understand. Do you know what an ecosystem is?

Stunning Measurement DLO That Will Help You Learn How to Measure

In Te Ngahere we have been learning about measurement. With learning about measurement we also learnt a lot about converting millimeters to centimeters and centimeters to meters. We were measuring objects as big as the basketball court and as small as a piece of paper. We had an A4 piece of paper full of objects that we had to measure. I found measuring the basketball court a lot more interesting to do than the other ones because we had something more to measure. I really enjoyed having a go at measurement because it was fun. I think that next time I could work on my converting millimeters to centimeters and centimeters to meters. Do you find measurement very interesting?

Interesting Things About Symmetry Name Art

In Te Ngahere we have been doing symmetry name art. It was really fun to do because I really like art and it wasn’t very hard to do. We were learning to make our name into art. The thing that I would say was the hardest part was making sure that the triangles are all in their right place. Have you ever done symmetry art before?
