Summer learning Journey

Hi Georgia I had a lot of fun reading the summer learning activity about Mexico. it's really cool and I can't believe it has 119.5 million people. the activity was fun to read and I even learnt a thing or to about mexico.

Science Day

A few weeks ago we had four lovely people that came to our school. There names are Taiyo, kaitlyn, Nina and Juan. They came from the university of Auckland. They showed us some things about science and things that they do in a science lab. The thing that I learnt was that dry ice is colder than the north pole. It was really strange but cool when they made elephant toothpaste. It would be even cooler if they made something blow up next time.

Pet Day

At Paihia school we have been creating lots of things around Pet day, the A&P show and flower day. On pet day I won 1 ribbon for the cutest kittens, I also got one award for the A&P poster and I also got one for participation. At pet I really enjoyed when I got to take the kittens in and find them a new home. But I also did enjoy it when we had to give them away because I really really like them.

Water Safety

In Te Maunga we had water safety lessons with Tracy. We learnt the 3 things that you need to know when you go swimming or just go for a picnic at the beach. They are, tell someone when you are going to be back, check the weather and make sure you have a parent over 20 to look after you. You need to make sure that you follow the rules to keep you safe and remember your safety first.

Rebecca

At Paihia School Rebecca Brothers came and talked about her life and about being an Olympic ambassador. Before she arrived the whole class had to make a google drawing and put appropriate questions about the Olympic Ambassador. When she visited I learnt that if something is so hard and you want to give up just keep going to the end.

Geometry

In Te Maunga we have made a google drawing about geometry. When we were doing geometry I learnt about parallel line and a perpendicular. The thing I found hard was finding out the right number of edges, corners and faces.

Procedure writing

In Te Maunga we have been coming up with ideas for procedure. The thing that I learnt was you need to put the punctuation in the right place also I learnt how to finish it with all the things in the right place. I think the thing that helped me was the workshops and my friends giving me advice. I think that I still need to work on using more punctuation, and I need to make my procedure have a hook to make it interesting.

Kia

In Te Maunga we have made a google drawing about kai, We made the google drawing so that we could learn more Te Reo Maori. The thing that I enjoyed the most was we learnt a new thing and it was fun to learn. Jade's Maths goals

Te Maunga we have been setting our own maths goals on a google drawing. The success criteria was that we had to make a google drawing and put our maths goals on it.

Writing goals

In Te Maunga we have been setting our own writing goals. We have had to put our writing goals on a google drawing and we succeed. The success criteria was that we were try to make our own writing goals. I choose this goals because I thought that I needed to learn them.

Maths solving

In Te Maunga well have been working in groups. In our groups we have been solving maths problems and using talk moves. Maths problem solving is when you have big problems and solve them that involves skip counting, addition and times tables. In my maths group I don’t think we work that will together because we don’t collaborate and we don’t much listen to what our group is saying. But at the top of everything we don’t use the talk moves that much.

Mataraiki

In Te Maunga we went for a trip to the Waitangi Treaty grounds with Te Tahuna. We went up to the Treaty grounds so that we all could learning more about Matariki and why we celebrate it. When we got there it was fun because they put out game and activitiest for us. The games were maui matu and we played shell games. But we also got to go and plant some new little baby plants. We also got make fish out of Nikau flax. I really liked the trip to the treaty grounds because we all had a fun time and we all learnt something new.

Reka and Kawa

In Te Maunga we are learning about he tino kawa and he tino reka. We had to make a slideshow about he tino kawa and he tino reka too. before we made the slideshow  we all tried all different sorts of food.  We also had to say if it was he tino kawa or he tino reka. We all had to learn what he tino kawa means and what he tino reka means before we were allowed to make the slide show.

Paihia School

At Paihia School we have been doing fitness, We have been learning new fitness every day  so that our hearts are beating faster. We have done jump jam, skipping, hurdles and obstacle course. There is this amazing person in the school her name is Mrs Williams, she's the one that put all of the fitness to get fiter The one I liked the best was jump jam because we were having a lot of fun and it was just fun. I found out that the hurdles were hard because we had to up over them, and do press ups and burpees.

Inquiry

Last term we all went for a walk down to Paihia beach with Te Tahuna, then Mrs Pou told as about this private beach that had big crabs with big starfish,we thought that we should start a google drawing that had what we were going to make a change and what we were going to do to make it better.

Writing Goals

At the beginning of the term I chose some maths goals that I thought that I had to learn. I started a google drawing that I did my maths goals on, Last term and this term I started to achieve my maths goals. Last term every time we achieved one of our maths goals we got to do our next task.

Writing goals

At the beginning of term 2 we had to choose your goals that we need to learn for our writing, There were also spelling goals that we had to learn. Once I had learnt them I started writing my new learning goals that I have worked on. The W.A.L.T. was to choose our own goals.
