Phishing or Scams

Kia ora, this week in Te Ngahere we have been learning about phishing & scams. When someone is phishing you they could want to press a link that could say something like there is a virus and they want you to download a software. As soon as you go into the website you could lose your personal things like all your photos and videos. Sometimes they ask you if you want your photos back you have to pay thousands of dollars but you shouldn’t really do that because they could be phishing you again. When someone is scamming you they could add something on facebook for example: your first car when you were born your neighborhood and act like its a cool game to fill out but really they are just scamming your personal information. They can also do this in many other ways by saying to win a PS5 fill out this form with your personal information and you could win one. Also another example: if you go on a site there is always a lock in the top left corner where the url goes, sometimes there is a red line crossing over it. If you ever go on a website and you see that then the owner of the website can steal your personal information because it means that the website is not secure. Something that I have learnt from this activity is that whenever I go onto a website to always look at the top left corner to see if there is a lock with a red line across it and if there is then its trying to steal personal information. If you would like to learn more then you can check out my DLO down below. I hope my DLO helps, bye bye!

Digital Dig

In Te Ngahere we have been doing Digital Dig. We have been learning new shortcuts and how to use our chromebooks properly using Ctrls. I enjoyed doing this because it is a lot of fun. It has made me remember how to use my chromebook again and now it is so easy because it’s faster. But the thing that I don’t enjoy is it’s hard to find all of the hacks and put them into the slide show. Did this help you understand what a Digital Dig is? Here is my slideshow:

Newspaper Challenge

Hello Bloggers, welcome back to my blog I hope you had a good holiday and I hope you like all of my new blog posts. In Te Ngahere we have done a STEAM Challenge and we had to make a tower. We used 2 pieces of newspaper and 30 cm of tape and we had to made the biggest tower we could with what we had. I learnt that if the bottom of the tower is not too big or not too small just bigger than the long bit that sticks (kind of like a pole) off the bottom then it should stand up nice and straight. I think what we could have done better was the bottom have our tower could of had one more leg to keep it standing up, I also think that we did really well on our top of the tower. We also added a little string of newspaper that sticks out and keeps the legs together so that our tower could stand up. I really enjoyed doing this and I hope we get to do this again. Have you ever done something like this before?

Coding with Scratch Jnr

I have been learning to use Scratch Jnr for coding.  I have made a video to show you my projects.  Sorry it was my first time learning how to do this so the video takes a while to start and then a while to stop at the end.  Next time I will get better at my starting and stopping times.

Blogging Criteria

PostW

Components
Beginner

Smart Learner

Learning

What have I been learning?

  • I’ve written what I have been learning about e.g. shared my WALT
  • I have put in an image, drawing or a screenshot of my learning
How do I know I have learnt?

  • My post includes information and ideas that show what I learned.
  • I created a DLO that shares my ideas about the learning: eg, a video, diagram, infographic etc

Reflected on my learning:

  • My post has my new ideas and what I enjoyed or found really difficult
  • I’ve shared what I think my next steps are, what I’d like to know more about, and what I might do differently next time

Impact

  • I have explained the learning I did
  • Most of my ideas can be seen
  • I included a photo, image or screenshot
  • My title is unique or catchy
  • My DLO is my own creation, makes sense and adds more information
  • My post may include embedded html content e.g. collage, video, Google Slide, animation etc

  • My post shows WHO I AM as a learner and is unique to me.
  • My information and ideas help my audience to understand the learning, [and there’s a link to this activity to my class learning site]
  • For my DLO, I (or my group) made all of the learning being shown from scratch

Punctuation

  • Some of my spelling and punctuation is not right
  • My post might be hard for the reader to understand
  • I have checked my punctuation and spelling
  • I have asked a buddy to read my post, made corrections and I cannot see any mistakes

  • I’m confident all my spelling and punctuation is correct and it makes sense for my readers, they will be able to read it easily

Layout

  • My font sizes and colour may be different and need making the same
  • My images or embedded content might not fit properly
  • I may not have used labels or a title on my learning blog post.
  • I previewed layout to see how my post would look and changed it where I needed to
  • Font size and colour match
  • I’ve used a title & labels
  • If I’ve used other people’s work or thinking I have shown the source or attributed it to them

  • Media/html content is checked e.g. size, position, and appears when post loads
  • My labels and title are specific to the learning & help people searching my blog
  • I am beginning to use scheduling for publishing so my posts don’t all come at once

All the Students in Te Moana have recently begun their own blogs. They are all at the beginner blog stage now but we are all setting our goals to become Smart Bloggers by the end of the year. Please check our blogs all the time to check how we are learning to improve.
